Time to Change

It is time to again to watch the daily progression of the famous
"Judge Thieler Sugar Maple" from Summer into Fall.

Below are links to the photos from previous years for those who want to
plan a leaf-peeper visit for the days of peak color, or those who want to
search for evidence of global climate change in year-to-year data.

Markup

No, not HTML, or XML, or the international standard SGML!
A different SGMLStreet and Ground Markup Language  :-)
The markup appearing on the streets and on the ground around Quincy.
You know - like spray-can gang tags, but these are done by workers in trucks with spray-cans of particular colors to show the underground utility locations.

Or are these the eggs of a Snow-bird?  Maybe Joe will know.

Leaf It To Me

I didn't get these posted yesterday because, well, I was, um, exercising.  And if you ever need to know, yes, a ton of leaves is heavier than a ton of whatever, especially when damp.

Also, perhaps these Fall colors will tide you over while the BlackOakNaturalist finds a way around the no-such-thing-as-a-free-lunch-forever Google wall.

Autumn Leaves

Actually, Summer is what has taken leave, and with its leaving
it is time again to document the the annual autumnal display of
the famous "Judge Thieler Sugar Maple".

Here is the slide show that will be updated regularly.
Below are links to the photos from previous years for those who either
want to plan their visit for the days of peak color, or who want to
search for evidence of global climate change in year-to-year data.
And here just for fun is a simulated 3D view of the tree at the end of summer.

Survivor

Two years ago this was small and alone.  It has avoided the mower and managed to grow up.  Below is the photo from August 2010.

Q-topia

On days like this Quincy really is utopia.

Looking west from Quincy Junction Road near the High School athletic fields, across American Valley toward Gansner Airfield with snow-covered Spanish Peak in the distance.

a May Zinger

Alternate titles considered:
  • May Day
(distress call: The Summer Solstice is less than four weeks away!)
  • Gulf Wars
(Another mass of cold air from the Gulf of Alaska is heading across the continent to do battle with a mass of hot air from the Gulf of Mexico.)
  • Bismarck Beware
(As in North Dakota - see forecast above.)
(They should be Mindful in Memphis too.)

Almost Done

The new Learning Resource Center at Feather River College is nearing completion. Ironic that while the building was being constructed the politicos have been deconstructing the educational system around it.

Link to previous construction photo thread, or search campus.
